Cardiel in Canada

I was fortunate enough to get to meet John Cardiel this past Thursday at Flatspot skateshop in Hamilton, On.
I have never met somebody as stoked, wild and wacky and happy to be alive as much as this guy.
It was an honour to meet him, I told him how his part in Sight Unseen inspired me for years, and I thanked him for the constant inspiration. Then I asked him if I could take a picture of him, to which he replied, 'Of Course!' He proceeded to stick his tongue out at me and make other funny faces, giving me a photographer's dream come true of a mini photoshoot. However, I was fumbling around with my flash and did not manage to snap a photo until he was finished making funny faces, and was smiling. Although I missed an epic shot of Cardiel having a good time, making faces, it was an honour to meet him and I still managed to get a decent picture!
All Hail Cardiel!

Remember Mike Day

It has been 5 years since the passing of Michael Shane Day. Mike was a great friend. He was always having fun and he loved skateboarding more than anything in the world. Mike spent time in Ontario and Vancouver, and made many acquaintances through the process. If you're one of these people,or knew Mike in any way, come out on November 10th and lets skate and have fun in honour of our friend.

Morgan Hystad - Soul to Sole - Axion Footwear

The commercial for Axion Footwear with Morgan Hystad, talking about the Heritage Shoe, is now online, check it out on YouTube or Hellaclips Enjoy!

Time for some Axion!

I was Fortunate enough to work on a 'Soul to Sole' commercial for Canadian Axion Footwear's Morgan Hystad. In this short clip, he gives us a few reasons why he likes skating Axion's 'Heritage' Shoe. We shot this clip in Vancouver and it is in the final stages of editing right now... I will post it on here when it is finished. In the meantime, enjoy this still photo I shot while we were out filming one day at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Freaks and Geeks Part 2: Mike Hastie MVP

In Part 2 of the 'Freaks and Geeks' Tour, Kitsch Skateboards and Coastal Riders teams do a demo at the Chuck Bailey Skatepark in Surrey. Mike Hastie is already heavy into a session by the time that the Van load I am a part of arrives. Also in the Van is Geoff Dermer, Jordan Bacon, Will Blakley,Joe Lynch,Nickey Reu, and Stacy Gabriel. Mike comes over and says 'hey, whats up?'. then looks at me and says 'I got a few things in mind to film.' I had no idea what I was about to witness... Hastie proceeds to bang out 2 lines, get 3 single tricks and a bunch of slams, then went home and put his kids to sleep! He is a machine. The only way he was able to make the demo in the first place was if he got a babysitter to watch his kids.. Part 2 of the 'Freaks and Geeks' Tour is called 'Hastie Gets a Baby-Sitter'. Check the Video to see what went down!

Battle at Hastings 2012

This past Saturday, September 1st, the third annual 'Battle at Hastings' took place and with $10,000 on the line, everyone in the contest was goin' off! The Locals were trying to stand their ground, but with the hungry, tranny-shredding Americans from the South trying to get that Canadian Dollar, it definitely was nothing short of a Battle. Dave Priest went down and suffered a dislocated knee, and Adam Hopkins later seperated his shoulder in the final minutes of the contest, trying to get his piece of the cash pie, with a 540 in the deep end. In the end, with several wounded Canadian skaters, the Americans were able to take the top 2 places respectively. Mason Merlino and 'Seattle Mike' took the top 2 places and Hopkins limped away with third place. All three of these guys were skating hard all day and deserved to get paid. Great day of Skating and hanging in the sun with good people. Enjoy the Video!

Transworld Cinematographer Contest

I was fortunate enough to place in the top 10 finalists for the Transworld Skateboarding Cinematographer Contest that is being held on their Website. Big Thank You Transworld!!

I grew up watching Transworld videos to get inspired to go out and skate, but I would also watch them to get inspired to go out and film...

Anyways, the inspiration I have gotten from Transworld videos over the years is what motivated me to actually enter this contest in the first place. Check out the video and then head over to skateboarding.com and like the video through facebook.

I also posted this part from Transworld's newest video The Cinematographer's Project.
Judging by this, it should be quite the amazing video!!
